How much will a Dominican death certificate cost me?
For most clients, the all-inclusive total is US$210*, split in two steps:
- US$95* search fee (pay online below). We locate the original ledger entry at the civil registry and ensure it’s correctly entered in the database. We’ll send you a draft printout to check names and dates, and we’ll request corrections if needed.
- US$115 for the official long-form death certificate, including:
- Legalisation by the Central Electoral Board
- Apostille by the Dominican Foreign Ministry
- Shipping by international certified airmail
* If the death occurred before 1970, or if the date/place is unknown, the search fee ranges from US$195 to US$395 depending on the case.
What extra charges might there be?
At this stage, you only pay the search fee. Once we have located the death record and confirmed that the certificate can be issued, we will send you a draft printout for review and then invite you to pay for the official certificate and any optional extras.
Official apostilled death certificate
Once the record has been located and approved, we charge US$115 for the official Dominican death certificate. This includes the original certificate, legalisation, apostille and shipping by certified airmail. Certified airmail normally takes a few weeks to arrive.
Embassy legalisation for Austria or Germany
If your Dominican death certificate will be used in Austria or Germany, a Dominican apostille may not be considered sufficient final proof of authenticity. In those cases, the certificate may also need to be legalised by the Austrian or German embassy in the Dominican Republic.
We charge US$95 for embassy legalisation for Austria or Germany. This includes the official embassy fee and our handling of the process.
Optional extras
Certified translation: For US$79, we can arrange an English, French or German translation of your Dominican death certificate by a certified legal translator.
Express shipping: For an additional fee, we can arrange expedited courier shipping instead of certified airmail. This is useful if you need the original certificate urgently.
